A perfect Montana wedding venue for Missoula couples who want something a little less traditional. Western Cider is right on the Clark Fork River and offers a ton of options for photo locations. The cider house has an intimate backyard full of apple trees and picnic benches which is especially scenic in the fall and spring when the leaves change color. With an indoor and outdoor location plus a covered space for the ceremony - this is one of my favorite Missoula wedding venues for couples who want something intimate, fun, and a little different.
Guest count: 300-700+
Cost: $4,500 (for the Commercial building)
You can't get more central Missoula than the Fairgrounds - and since the recent renovations, it's a gorgeous place to have a wedding - especially if you're planning on throwing a big party with a huge guest list. The gardens are stunning pretty much any time of year, and the buildings have huge ceilings and big windows making it a beautiful place for photos.

This is the perfect venue for Montana couples who want to get married in Missoula, but don't want rustic, Western barn vibes. The Historic Florence building right in downtown Missoula is full of art deco and mid century modern touches, making it a great backdrop for photos.
Guest count: Up to 75
Cost: $20,000+
Although it's on the pricier side, Holland Lake Lodge is my dream wedding venue in Montana - and for the first time in years the lodge is reopened for weddings in 2026 and 2027! This is the perfect wedding venue for Montana couples who want a summer camp vibe, complete with cabins for guests to stay in. Holland Lake feels like a personal national park with a giant waterfall, crystal clear lake, and huge mountain vistas. Plus it's only about an hour outside of Missoula, making it a fairly easy commute for couples who want to stay close to the city of Missoula, but don't necessarily want something in the city center.

Guest count: Up to 250
Cost: $3,500 - $5,000+
This venue is a classic for couples wanting to get married in Missoula while still enjoying sweeping mountain views. The Barn on Mullan is a restored barn that features classic rustic features with modern updates throughout including a gorgeous getting ready space. The venue is on a golf course and surrounded by the mountains of the Missoula valley, plus expansive gardens, a pond, and large indoor and outdoor spaces for any weather. It also makes for some gorgeous portrait backdrops with the dark wood paneling on the exterior mixed with warm interior lighting for a really romantic setting.

Ok this one is a couple hours from Missoula (2.5 hours to be exact), but hear me out. Abbott Valley Homestead is my favorite Montana wedding venue for couples who want a celebration that feels totally private, nestled right in the gorgeous Flathead
Valley. I shot a wedding here last year that lives rent free in my mind. I'll be posting the gallery from this stunning Montana wedding venue next week so stay tuned!

What to consider when choosing the best Missoula wedding venue for you
Design & Aesthetic:

Montana offers a range of venue styles, from rustic barns and elegant ballrooms to mountain lodges and historic sites. Consider your personal taste and the overall theme of your wedding, and choose a venue that complements your vision. The venue aesthetic should resonate with you and your partner's vibe.
Location and Accessibility:
Decide whether you want a venue nestled in the woods or mountains, at a barn on a ranch, near a lake, or closer to the city center of Missoula. Take a look at the proximity to airports and accommodations, especially in this relatively rural area. Also, if you want an outdoor ceremony or reception, make sure the venue provides at least partially covered areas and weather contingency plans.
Amenities and Services:

There are a few key questions to ask when deciding on a Montana wedding venue: does it provide on-site catering, or can you bring in your preferred caterer? Are there bridal suites or dressing rooms available for you and your wedding party? Arrange an on-site visit to take a look at the venue's lighting, sound system, and parking options to plan for the most seamless experience for you and your guests. Some venues may also offer event coordination or have a list of recommended vendors, which can simplify the wedding planning process.
Budget and Flexibility:
Figure out your ideal wedding budget and start there when looking for a Montana wedding venue. Ask about any additional costs, like venue fees, service charges, rentals, or overtime fees. Discuss the venue's flexibility in terms of customization, outside vendors, and any specific requests you may have. Many venues will offer discounts for weekdays or slow seasons.
Reviews and Recommendations:
Before making your final decision, read reviews and talk to couples who have gotten married at the venues you're considering. Personal recommendations from friends, family, or wedding planners are often more reliable than reviews directly off a wedding venue's website.

Factors Influencing Venue Costs:
1. Location: The location of the venue plays a significant role in determining the cost. Popular venues with scenic views or in-demand areas may have higher price tags compared to those in less sought-after locations. Places near Glacier and Flathead Lake will typically be more expensive than more rural, less scenic locations.
2. Guest Capacity: The size of your guest list directly affects the cost. Larger venues that can accommodate a higher number of guests often come with higher rental fees, while smaller, intimate venues may be more budget-friendly. Ask around at nontraditional businesses or Airbnb rentals if you're planning a micro wedding - that's often where you can get the best deals on a wedding venue.
3. Season and Day of the Week: Peak wedding seasons and weekends tend to be in higher demand, which can lead to increased prices. Opting for an off-season or weekday wedding may offer potential cost savings.
4. Budget-Friendly Venues: On the lower end of the price spectrum, you may find venues with rates ranging from $1,000 - $3,000. These could include community halls, smaller event spaces, or bars and restaurants not typically reserved for weddings.
5. Mid-Range Venues: Mid-range venues typically range from $3,000 - $8,000. These venues often offer more amenities, larger capacities, and versatile event spaces that can accommodate indoor and outdoor ceremonies, and will often include tables, chairs, and decor.
3. High-End Venues: For couples seeking a luxurious experience, high-end venues in Montana may have prices starting from $10,000 and can go well beyond $20,000+. These venues often offer exclusive services, breathtaking views, and high-end accommodations.

Tips for Managing Your Montana Wedding Budget:
1. Prioritize Your Must-Haves: Determine your non-negotiables and prioritize them when selecting a venue and planning your vendors. This will help you focus your budget on the aspects that matter most to you.
2. Explore Off-Peak Options: Consider getting married during the off-peak season or on a weekday to potentially secure lower venue rates.
3. Customize and Compare: You can always request customized packages that align with your needs. Get out the pro/con list to compare prices, amenities, and services from multiple venues to make sure you're getting the best value.
5. Consider All-Inclusive Packages: Some venues offer all-inclusive packages that bundle various services and vendors together - this can potentially cut costs compared to individually sourcing vendors and services, and will definitely save you time when it comes to planning.
